  • My friend accidently made an extremely destructive edit to the Demitri page; I am assuming/hoping you can rollback the page or something; either way: sorry about that.

  • Here I found some obscure reference sheet for Darkstalkers' Morrigan, Felicia, Lilith, and Bulleta.
    Darkstalkers Reference Sheet

What was this used for? I know it's in the new artbook, but I came across it while searching up names in Japanese. Pretty interesting... and I like this.

But if I had to REALLY guess what it is... it's probably concept art for a scrapped sequel to VSav called Vampire Ace that was supposed to come out in 1999 or the early 2000s.

    • Artworks says it was for Merchindise and Tamio from The Design Studio refined them. I couldn't find anything about The Design Studio (たみお The Design Studio) on the JP Yahoo and then the JP wiki. The Design Studio is kind of ambiguous for a company name. I just assumed they were done for action figures.

And what's this Vampire Ace stuff? I never heard of this, do they talk about it in the Artworks book? I've been too busy lately and haven't had a chance to read it.

    • Interesting...

I don't have the book yet, however. I heard there was a fourth Darkstalker game called "Vampire Ace" (or "Vampire Soldier" outside Japan). I read about this through Usenet archives (on Google Groups). It was supposed to be a CPS-III game (gameplay similar to that of 3rd Strike) and apparently was slated for release in 1999 or 2000. You never heard of this?

  • Q*

Hello, I am an admin of the Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive wikis. I've created a footer template for fighting games (which you can see here) that you can add to your front page. It works as a type of link exchange-- as you link this wiki to other fighting games, in turn they will link back to you. This way, we can connect all of the fighting games on Wikia. Would you be interested in including this on Darkstalkopedia?

  • I hate to spoil and everything... but Parka has already received his copy of Darkstalkers' "Official Complete Works" by UDON yesterday. ;)

I saw his video of the book. Must say I'm impressed. Bengus has some awesome comments about his images for Vampire Savior. He said that he always enjoys drawing Bulleta. Apparently that Zabel/Raptor picture was drawn in late 1996. Bengus evidently has trouble drawing Q-Bee. XD

And all the concepts/sketches design notes have been translated into English (same font as the MvC artbook). The Staff Interview section is full of "laughs" too. Can't wait for this book to drop!

    • My copy of the book came early? I ordered it on Monday and it came today. The new artwork is beautiful and there was a lot of random neat stuff about Dee, Anita and Jedah being more tied together.

    • I have a feeling some stuff is missing. Does the book have his Belial Jr. concept, or that B.B. Hood "Born to Hunt" drawing by Alvin Lee (Udon)? I don't recall seeing those in the book.

I know the rough sketch of Bulleta's winning portrait isn't in there which is kinda disappointing.

  • Here I found some obscure artbook collecting the arts of Vampire: The Night Warriors to Vampire Savior 2.  www.otaku.com/products/20574

I'm quite surprised at what it has in store. It actually has some concept art in it (such as the Lilith sketch).

Does this artbook have an actual name? It's listed as "Vampire Night Warrior Taizen". Would love to know more info about it.

    • Vampire Night Warrior Taizen is the name. I couldn't find anything else about it except that it was published by Studio Hard (Haado) and Kooee...nothing really comes up when you search for them in Japanese/on yahoo! Japan.

      Good find, btw!

    • Yeah. Some of the concept art is in better quality than what Vampire Artworks has. I'm quite surprised that it has early concepts because the book is very obscure and it's not a Gamest Mook. ;)

  • I'd like to talk to you about matters of affiliation with the Street Fighter Wiki. I feel it's proper, since both are Capcom-owned fighting franchises that have crossed over more than once. Are you okay with linking to Street Fighter's Wikia, and vice versa?

      Loading editor
    • Of course! The SF Wiki is linked to on the front page (under community links/wikia gaming) but I wouldn't mind going through this wiki's pages and adding more links where appropriate.

  • I saw the Felicia page and it said she shared similarities with sonic the hedgehog, true, spin dash, animalish and all, but sonic isn't nude, he's a hedgehog! Always been one, it's like saying animals are naked, their not, their animals! It's natural!

  • I know right before corporate decided to use the name Vampire Savior internationally for the arcade release of DS3, GameFan magazine put a strategy guide for it with the "Jedah's Damnation" name.

Now, I have a question. Has anyone obtained/looked through this book before, and is there anything cool in it? Like concept artwork or model sheets of the newcomers? It's an American strategy guide, so I have a feeling GameFan ruined some of the art by flipping it horizontally.

Still, I'm very interested in this book.

    • I received a copy for Christmas from my brother. Unlike the previous Darkstalkers and Vampire Hunter strategy guide, it featured far less concept artwork. Essentially, one page shows off the profile of the character including some biographical information. The following pages go over special moves, ES as well as EX. The next two pages after go over chain combos that aren't all that complex. Lastly, paragraphs in the form of two colums describe strategy for that particular character and maybe two screens that show a demonstration of the strategy such as using __ move to slide under fireballs. The final page for the character shows off their win poses, burned, sliced, electrocuted, cursed etc. animations. Those can be fun to look at. At the end of the book small strips showing off the endings is cramped as they did in their previous guides. It does the job though. The guide seems to cover the arcade release so anything pertaining to the PS1 port is not mentioned. Pretty sure Huitzil Donovan and Pyron weren't mentioned in the guide. Very sure now that I think on it. Hope this fixes an itch.

      Vince.

    • Jeez... This thread is so old. January 2014 is when I posted this? I got the Jedah's Damnation guide in October that year, sealed. I decided to open it though and it had some decent, handy information on basic combos moves of DS3/VSav, and hilariously inaccurate information about the cast. B.B. Hood born in 1979? :P Overall though, the guide is worth the keep.
